We're very proud to be able to offer this stunning works Grand Prix MV Agusta 500 triple to the market.
This bike was raced by Angelo Bergamonti in 1970 before being converted to TT spec for the 71 season when it was raced in the IOM Senior TT along with two other 500's that year which was won by Agostini. No records exist to say which actual bike he was riding that year as all riders in the team rode all or any bike. It features an additional battery tray fitted to the inside of the fairing in order to run the total-loss ignition for the 6 lap race (electronic ignition is now fitted). Only 16 500 triples were built over the years it was raced from 1966-1974. This bike was given to former team mechanic Lucio Castelli as a retirement gift by Count Corrado Agusta, Lucio had carried on working for the Count as his personal driver after MV retired from racing.
We purchased it through Lucio in 2013 directly from the collector he'd sold it to who had owned it for around twenty years and paraded it at various European events including Goodwood, spa bikers classic, coupe de moto legends, lap of honour at the TT.
The bike comes with a declaration of authenticity from Lucio Castelli.
